During the Revolutionary War, Levi Crocker and his sons sided with the Patriots in Washington County, N.Y. His sons, Levi and Ephraim Crocker, and several of their neighbors in Argyle, were taken as prisoners to Canada in the spring of 1782 by Tories who had been former friends. After months of starvation in freezing temperatures, they were finally released after the war had ended
