Notes

Event Note

Foster:

Sir William Pole makes this Sir John Croker to have married Agnes Churchill. This, however, is a mistake, that marriage having really taken place with his grandfather. It is probably here that the marriage with “Dawnay” occurred, as the arms in Yealhampton Church proved this to have preceded that with the Pollards. In that church there was formerly a shield impaled, showing, therefore, husband and wife. Dexter, quarterly, 1. Croker; 2. Churchill; 3. ----------; 4. Dawnay. Sinister, Pollard.
